The LOWER CAMP is specifically designed to meet the needs and developmental level of children 3 to 5 years old. Campers are placed in small peer groups and led by qualified and caring counselors.
The LOWER CAMP program emphasizes social interaction, individual growth, and fun. All campers have a full but balanced daily schedule and participate in the activities listed below:
- Sports (each week a different sport is featured)
- Arts & Crafts
- Nature Exploration
- Gymnastics
- Red Cross Swim Instruction
- Music, Dance, and Drama
- Cooperative Games
- Low Ropes Course
- Archery (for campers entering kindergarten)
- Buddy Period (campers are paired with older campers)
In addition to the daily activities, children in Lower Camp participate in special events held at camp (young campers do not leave camp for field trips). Programs in the past have included animal shows, carnivals, magic performances, story-tellers, and dance shows.
The Lower Camp Coordinator, Gerry Kramer (B.S. in Education), has extensive experience in early childhood education, both as a former director and current teacher at the Academy Pre-School during the school year, and as the Lower Camp Coordinator at camp for over 30 years.
The LOWER CAMP includes a variety of enrollment options:
For Children entering Kindergarten:
- 5 days/week
- 3 days/week (Mon., Wed., Fri.)
For Children entering Pre-School (3- and 4-year olds):
- 5 days/week
- 3 days/week (Mon., Wed., Fri.)
- 2 days/week (Tues./Thurs.)
- 2 half-days/week (Tues./Thurs. from 9:00 AM to 12:15 PM)
