Week One: July 15 -19, 2019
Week Two: July 22 – 26, 2019
Regular camp day is 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
For Grades 3 to 8This team oriented program will help to foster a sense of community among campers through the use of interpersonal games and allow for each camper to embrace their individuality along the way.
Learning about theater encourages campers to be confident and helps to build self-esteem. Campers will learn how to focus on their posture, body language, eye contact and speaking style. Focusing on these things helps to improve communication skills.
Campers will learn “theater etiquette” such as “upstaging” and “stepping on lines” (what not to do). They will even get a chance to be director and yell, “CUT!”
A variety of exercises will help campers explore theater and build on the skills they already have. Exercises include speaking, such as tongue twisters and accents, movement, such as pantomime and charades, and sensory, such as describing an object while blindfolded.
Learn how to show emotion without “overacting”. Communicate through more than just your voice. Body movement exercises will demonstrate how body language can speak loudly.
This two week camp will culminate with a final performance of a short play. Parents will be invited to watch the special performance!
